# Multiple languages on the same channel

we would like to have the ability to switch language on a channel.  
We now have several channels for different countries, but we also have a request for show a different language on a channel  
ex  
finninsh site [www.domain.fi](http://www.domain.fi) should be able to display english and swedish content by selecting language in a dropdown but remain on the finnish channel.  
what is the recommended approach for this?

I can think of some alternatives:

1. create new channels. ex [www.domain.fi/en](http://www.domain.fi/en), [www.domain.fi/se](http://www.domain.fi/se) and configure like the finnish channel exept for the language  
problem with this is that we would get a lot of channels to handle.

2. add more url to the channels and somehow select which language to display based on url.  
Will this work with seo, sitemap …

3. Add query string parameter with language info (?lan=en)  
possible SEO problem, not recommended by google.

We recommend setting up a new channel and reusing the website, so option 1 from your alternatives.
