I’m new to this and have a problem with Main Category for categories that use the same product list. I cannot check both so only one product category at a time can show the list. I cannot choose anything when adding a new category. Please advice.

Don’t sure what you are asking.
A base product can be in multiple categories but only one of the category can the the main category.
it is not the base product you select in the list under the category in your image it is variants for the baseproduct that should show in the category but is is possible to select them all in both categories.
Thank’s for your reply! Hmm, still don’t get it. This is how it is set up. Blue is General and underneath is Variant. I can get the list on both pages/products showing all Variants. What I want is to only show some of the Variants under respective product/page.
If I understand correctly you are showing all the variants on the product page. If you do not want to show a variant on the product page then do not publish it on the channel. Then it will be removed from all the views: search result, product view etc.
You want to display different variant depending on which category you are currently in?
lets say you have a pair of pants in category pants with 2 different variants/colors (blue and white).
The product is also published i category blue and white.
Categories
pants/workingpants
blue/workingpants
white/workingpants
in pants/workingpants you want to show all variant
in blue/workingpants you only want to show the blue variant
in white/workingpants you only want to show the white variant
or do i still missunderstand?
