The new Pointer field type is great. But from what I can tell, it’s not available as a product field type out of the box. Am I missing something?

The pointer and multifield field-types didn’t fit into the time frame for the 7.0 release, they are included in an 7.1 release that probably will be released during Q1 next year.
Btw, will there be any improvements to the editor of multi-select Pointers? I’m thinking mainly about the possibility to sort the links, using drag-and-drop similar to the images on products in PIM.
