Person validation not allowing special characters as Id

I am in the process to upgrade a Litium Solution from version 8.7.1 to 8.14.5 and I noticed that a validation has been added on the Person object and I’m not allowed to have special characters in the CustomerNumber anymore. Could I override this behaviour somehow?

“Customer numbers can only contain a-z, 0-9 and -.”

Many of our projects use the email as identifier for a Person.

Litium version: 8.14.5

It does not exists any configurations for the allowed characters, we have created a Bug Details - 67927 - @ character is not allowed in customer number for persons (litium.com) about this with your information and will try to get it included in the next platform release around Easter.
