Making custom product/variant fields usable as product/variant search facet filters

How do I make custom fields usable as search facet filters for users after adding them to the accelerator “product filter” settings?

I assume they have to be indexed, and that the new facets would have to be added to the facet UI.

Litium version: 7.6.2 accelerator

You need to go to the website and add the new filter into the Filters field there.

After that the filter is available “globally” on the site and will show up if it’s relevant to the products in the category.
